3 Steps to Effortless Chic
Our #1 client goal is learning how to be effortlessly chic.
The concept goes something like this — cue woman on the street looking like she happened to throw together a coincidentally perfect outfit, put her hair up into a random, messy bun, and just swiped on some lip gloss, but somehow ends up looking chicer than *you* who put very little into it…or maybe way to much and still unhappy with the results. The truth is, it’s NOT that easy, and never has been. Those who don’t put any effort into looking their best, often don’t. Showing up that ‘effortless’ actually takes a lot of effort, energy, and practice. No one just wakes up like that. Myth busted. So now we can move on to the important stuff…
But how do you look like you know exactly what you’re doing with fashion?
As an industry insider, I want to demystify what it really takes to appear so effortlessly chic. I’ve built a career and a business around putting in the good work to get amazing results. Just imagine what it would feel like to finally be the one commanding the attention, inspiring those envious side glances and hearing ‘where did you get that ___ ' from your fashion friend.
Changing your current habits/mindset is the very first step. Open up to a different way of doing things, and a process that will yield positive results.
I’ve broken down a career-long styling process into 3 key categories that you can start following TODAY.
1. Get Inspired
What’s in your dream wardrobe? Which designers just speak to you (affordable or not)? Is there a influencer/celeb/public figure whose closet you wish you could raid? Don’t put limits on yourself in this phase! It’s not about being realistic, it’s about identifying your personal style and tastes. From this, you can identify a pattern that will help transition your style fantasies into a real, tangible wardrobe. But you won’t know what to buy if you haven’t taken the time to pinpoint what style speaks to you. Pinterest is an easy place to start building a mood board! Check out a sample board here
2. Start Shopping
Once you’ve identified your style (or at least some solid likes/dislikes, wants, needs, and must-haves), you can begin to make your style a reality. Unfortunately, this is the phase that will bring you back down to reality. You only need to do 3 things:
Establish a realistic budget BEFORE SHOPPING. This is a must.
Identify holes in your existing wardrobe that are more urgent than some of your wistful, fun “wants.” However, buying “needs” doesn’t mean you should buy pieces you don’t love or just feel “blah” about. If you don’t feel excited about an item, just pass on it and move on to the next beautiful + useful thing!

3. Outfit Styling
Once your new items come rolling in, the next step is to take these pieces and turn them into polished, compelling outfits. This really is the secret sauce. If you take time to do this now, you won’t be scrambling in the mornings trying to put the pieces together (ever).
If you’re thinking, how on earth do I do this?! You’re not alone.
Styling is an art form but there is also some science to it. I’ve developed a process that has been practiced on, and proven with, real clients again and again. Following this process works EVERY TIME. Once you get good it, it will only take you 2mins to put together the perfect outfit. Here it goes:
Start with a strong base item like your favorite pair of jeans, a classically chic dress, or a solid color blouse
Layer in an investment item like luxe cashmere knit, tailored blazer, or great bag
Add a trend item to make your classic pieces feel fresh and modern
Pair the perfect shoe to complete the look (Pro tip: this is a crucial element. Try as many options as necessary.)
Accessories that tie it all together - like a chain link necklace or of the moment sunnies
