How to Transition Your Wardrobe for Fall
The leaves are changing, the temps are dropping, and suddenly you’re in the mood to pull your sweaters out of storage. Yep, somehow it’s Fall, and that means it’s time for the bi-annual wardrobe transition marathon. Swapping your wardrobe between seasons can feel tedious and time consuming, but luckily for you, you don't have to do it alone. Just follow our few, key steps and we will take the overwhelm out of swapping seasons. Scroll on and let us guide you through it!
Keep the basics
Tees/tanks/bodysuits + jeans + sneakers should stay put. The majority of your basics don’t need special attention. They will make the perfect Leave them in an easily accessible spot and move on to the next.
Layering
Now it’s time to think about what layers you can add to your basics to keep them working in colder months. Blazers + jackets (think bomber, biker, and military styles) + chunky cardigans are all great layering pieces to throw on top of your basics to pull them into the new season. Just 2-3 of these items will do the trick to polish off any Fall look. Make sure these pieces are visible and easy to grab.
Wtf is transitional footwear
Even on warmer days, it’s time to pack away Summer slides and sandals. Chunky loafers and closed toe mules are the perfect transitional shoes while you’re on your way to the combat boots and knee high boots you’ll wear all winter.
Fill in your gaps
Now that you’ve transitioned your wardrobe, identify the missing pieces you need to add. Did you toss a few worn-out looking sweaters and need to add one or two more? Looking for a great new pair of combat boots for the season? Hunting for the perfect neutral layer that will go with anything? Write a list (and stick to it)--it’s time to go shopping.
What about seasonal trends
Consider adding a trend piece for the season, even if you don't identify as 'trendy'. It's not about being trendy...rather adding a modern touch to make older items feel more relevant. Just 1 or 2 of-the-moment pieces will breathe new life into your basics + your confidence. A cloud clutch or oversized blazer can be just the thing to make your whole wardrobe feel fresh for Fall.
